I wanted to talk to you today about acupuncture for sciatica.

Sciatica is probably my most favorite pain condition to treat with acupuncture. Because people come in really about to lose their mind with pain.

Pinched nerve pain is the worst kind of pain there is. You just can’t think straight, you can’t sleep, you become very edgy and it’s so rewarding to helping people get immediate results.

So when people come in with sciatica, what that is, it is a pinch nerve in the back. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body, its actually thick like a cable. It attaches at four different vertebrae in the back and then it merges together into this cable that passes through the buttock and then it separates again into different pieces. There is a nerve that goes down the back of the leg, one that goes down the side of the leg, and one down the front.

So with acupuncture, we are able to target the treatment by placing the needles just exactly along the pathways that you are experiencing the pain.

And what we see happen is, we see the range of the pain: if it’s going from the back all the way down to the foot, with every treatment we see it shrink. So if you were reporting that you feel pain all the way down to the ankle, maybe the next time you come in you are going to say… well now you only feel it to the knee… Now you only feel it to the back of the leg… Now it’s only in the buttock…

And so we just kind of shrink it with every treatment. It really does not take many treatments on the road to get a big, big difference.

So if you are struggling with stuck sciatic pain, please give acupuncture a try. Come in and we will help you feel a lot better. Thanks so much!
